Agro diversity interpretation center

Agrodiversity is made up of all biological resources for agriculture and food.

It is estimated that man has used over 10,000 plant species over the centuries; However, today, most of humanity feeds on only 150 cultivated species. Specifically, four of them (rice, corn, wheat and potatoes) provide 50% of the world’s food.

In the permanent exhibition “Tenerife, Island of Agrodiversity” , we try to make visitors aware that despite everything, our island is still a place where much of the agricultural resources are conserved, and also farmers, thanks to the close collaboration between the inhabitants of the rural world and the Center for the Conservation of Agricultural Biodiversity of Tenerife (CCBAT) of the Cabildo de Tenerife.
